Our First Live Online Selling Conference

Oh…ClanCon Live!  Even just writing the words still take my breath away a little bit. When I started my first online business years ago, I never in a million years thought that someday I’d be hosting a convention for others who are building their own e-commerce businesses. But on March 21, with snowflakes tumbling on the Wasatch Mountains,  ClanCon Live 2019 got underway.

Let me share a little secret with you: I’m an introvert.

As in, “let me just stand over here and watch the rest of you, and then I’d like to go home and work behind my computer screen.”

But there I was behind the curtain, my heart pounding out of my chest, ready to run out and greet the hundreds of women and men who were in that room clapping and pounding on their tables for me to come onstage to kickoff ClanConLive 2019.

Surreal?  Uh…yeah!

So why did I do it?  Because every person in that room was there to hear “the thing” that was going to make a difference in their lives and in their business.  Maybe they’d learn a lot, but that “one thing” would be the ultimate game changer.

How’d I know?

Because I’d been them.

I’d sacrificed, leaving my family for a few days and spending my hard-earned money to fly off and attend a conference that I instinctively knew would change me. I’d listened and learned, and suddenly had that “aha!” moment that made me pivot in whatever I was working on and begin to take that next big step in my online business.  

My BecauseICAN Clan deserved that same opportunity. So I gave it to them, pretty much scared to death the entire time.

What happened at ClanCon?

A room vibrating with excitement.  Moments of brilliance. Moments of laughter. A lot of crying. Great treats from companies like G2G and True Lemon (not to mention the bakery at Zermatt Resort!) More selfies than I can possibly count. Friends made. Exceptional speakers held the rapt attention of people who needed to hear what they had to say.

There’s something I want you to take away from all of this whether or not you were there at CLANCON Live 2019.

That is to invest in yourself.

There’s a lot of guilt that can come with entrepreneurship, including how much time you are away from your family while you’re building your business.

But when you find a growth opportunity that speaks to you, that gives you that feeling deep down in your gut—the kind you try to ignore but just can’t shake—telling you you’re supposed to do it…you need to. Invest in the time you need to listen to amazing speakers, meet people who are facing the same obstacles, and just let yourself focus on you and your business.  

I promise you that it’s so dang worth it.
