“Are there any ways to make selling online easier?” 

It’s a question that I tend to get a lot of as an online business coach and teacher—usually from someone who’s feeling a bit overwhelmed about something they’ve encountered. 

Now, if you’re starting out, please don’t let that scare you. 

Fear of owning and running an online store is the LAST thing this post is about, and it’s the last thing I want you to feel!

When you first get started in ecommerce, there’s a lot to do. You need to get the basics set up, you have to choose a product to sell, and then actually START selling. There are also shipping and other tasks that are just part of getting things underway.

These steps help you learn and understand your business.  

But there’s a point when doing everything in your business yourself will ultimately slow you down. 

Dinae Pitcher joined me on the How to Sell Online podcast, and I was super excited to learn about her business, Marmeez. It’s been growing really fast, and TikTok has been helping a lot. (Seriously—wait until you hear the tips she shares!) 

Then our conversation took a bit of a turn. Dinae shared that she’d been looking at selling her online business AND had already started another one! 

Jaws dropped. Big time. 

(Okay, maybe it was just my jaw.)

It was so surprising to learn that Dinae was considering—more than considering, really—putting her successful online store up for sale. It was a store she’d built, along with her mom, from scratch. 

What followed was an important, authentic, and sometimes-emotional conversation about what things had been burdening this successful online entrepreneur. Most importantly, we talked about the steps she could take immediately to lighten the load and make online selling easier. It was kinda perfect. 

Here just 5 of takeaways from our conversation:

  1. Don’t do everything yourself.
  2. Get the tasks off your plate that drain your time and energy.
  3. Raise prices if orders are coming in way too fast.
  4. Be okay with longer shipping times on custom products.
  5. Don’t do business alone.
