Shera and Her Success
Shera Rowley has found major success as the owner and founder of Seven Degrees. They sell the best hoodies ever! (Believe me, I’ve tried them and I know what I’m talking about).
Twelve years ago, Shera’s life looked a little different. She owned a bridal shop and worked so much, she literally slept at her sewing machine. Shera was always busy with work!
She raised her three babies right next to her, in playpens, or in the back room of her shop; and felt like she never had enough time to spend with her family.
After about eight years in that business, Shera was still not making any money. She never took a paycheck, and yet, she felt like that was where she needed to be.
One night, she was sitting in front of her sewing machine when her arm started twitching. It was just a muscle spasm, but Shera thought she was having a stroke. She broke down in tears, as that muscle spasm was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
She started praying and asking God if this was it. Should she quit or should she keep going? Is this really how her life is supposed to be?
In her heart, Shera already knew the answer. She couldn’t go on like that. So, she decided to take her life into her own hands and make a change.
The Pivot
When I met Shera a year and a half ago, she had just started Seven Degrees. It was her second business, and obviously, she was scared. But she didn’t let that deter her.
At that point, she had only made $19,000 in sales, and some of those sales were wholesale. As you know, wholesale doesn’t make a lot of money, but what it does is build numbers for your business!
Shera started her hoodie business from scratch. She worked out the branding and the designs on her own. She was so determined to find success that she invested her family’s tax return into her new business. There was no going back from that, so she just went all in.
Her gamble was worth it because today her business is booming!
